INTERVIEW

When Pixie Lott burst onto the music scene as a teenager, she embodied the bright optimism of British pop. More than a decade later, she's still performing to adoring crowds - this time carrying not only a catalogue of hits, but also the hard-earned wisdom of adulthood, motherhood, and a newfound creative freedom.
Fresh from a whirlwind summer of festival performances and a writing trip to Nashville, Lott speaks candidly about the shifts that have defined her latest chapter. Change, she admits, is something she once resisted. “I’ve always been a bit stuck in the past, really nostalgic,” she reflects. “But now, becoming a mum, moving out of London, expecting another baby, I feel like I’m embracing it. It’s a massive shift, but a beautiful one.”
That sense of transformation inspired her latest single, “Coming of Age.” Written in the throes of early motherhood and tested live on festival stages before its release, the track captures both the vulnerability and liberation of stepping into a new phase of life. “It’s about embracing who you are, letting go of other people’s projections, and living in the now,” she explains. “When I sing it live, it feels like I’m letting it all out.”

For Lott, performing remains her anchor. Despite the juggle of sleepless nights, childcare, rehearsals, and industry demands, she says the stage is where everything falls into place. “That’s my outlet. I give my all to every single show. It’s my way of staying grounded.” Meditation and family support, she adds, also keep her balanced amid the chaos of career and motherhood.
The pop star is quick to acknowledge the realities behind the glamour: the exhaustion of touring with a toddler in tow, the pressure of social media and streaming, and the constant negotiation of identity between artist and parent. Yet her determination shines through. “It can feel like you’re split into five different cups,” she admits. “But it’s doable. You can be career-driven and have babies. Your priorities just shift.”
That resilience extends to her creative independence. Once bound by label timelines, Lott now relishes the immediacy of sharing music as she writes it. “The industry’s changed so much. Before, I had to wait years for songs to come out. Now I can release music that reflects what I’m going through right now, and that feels so empowering.”
Beyond music, Lott is embracing new ventures. This winter, she’ll appear in Christmas Karma, a festive film project that perfectly suited to her self-confessed obsession with the holiday season. She also has a special headline Christmas show at the Union Chapel in London on December 17th. “I’m the biggest Christmas fan,” she laughs. “My whole feed is just Christmas videos. I’m already nesting, getting the house cozy. With the new baby on the way, it feels like such a special time.”
As she prepares for both a newborn and new creative releases, Pixie Lott seems more assured than ever - not the ingénue who once dominated the charts, but a woman in her element, rewriting the story on her own terms. “Life is short,” she says simply. “I just want to make the most of it. To move forward, keep learning, and put out music that’s real.”
And in doing so, she is not only coming of age – she is coming into her own.
