How did you originally get into music, and what was the first music you loved?

I began taking piano and singing lessons at the age of 5. Throughout my school years and into college, my primary focus was on performing on stage in the theatre, and I studied acting and performing at USC and the British School of Acting in London. The first music I fell in love with included legends like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and The Beatles. Their music had a profound impact on me and sparked my passion for performing.

What inspired you to form ‘Eddie Witz and The Most High?’

The inspiration to form ‘Eddie Witz and The Most High’ came from a deep desire to create music that resonated on a spiritual and emotional level, at first to heal myself from my own personal trauma and from a physical ailment called Ramsay Hunt Syndrome that left the right side of my face partially paralysed.

I wanted to form a band that could transcend traditional genres and bring together diverse influences, from rock and soul to reggae and world music. The idea was to create a sound that not only entertained but also inspired and uplifted our listeners. ‘Eddie Witz and The Most High’ became the perfect vehicle for this vision, allowing me to explore profound themes of self-love, healing oneself, unity, and enlightenment through our music.

What genres does the musical collective explore?

'Eddie Witz and The Most High' explores many genres, reflecting diverse musical influences and commitment to creating a unique sound. Our music is an eclectic blend that includes modern pop, we incorporate powerful guitar riffs and dynamic rhythms that drive much of our sound. We infuse soulful melodies and heartfelt lyrics, aiming to connect with listeners on an emotional level with laid-back, rhythmic grooves of reggae adding a distinct vibe to our music, bringing in elements of relaxation and positivity. I am very inspired by global sounds, so we have worked hard to integrate various instruments and styles from around the world, creating a fusion.

By blending these genres, we strive to create a musical experience that is diverse, engaging, and reflective of our collective artistic vision. This fusion allows us to explore different themes and emotions, making our music resonate with a wide audience.

You’ve got to work alongside some credible musicians  - how has this shaped the sound, and do you prefer to work alone or collaborate?

Working alongside some incredibly talented and credible musicians has been a transformative experience for me. Each musician brings their own unique perspective, skills, and creativity to the table, and this collaboration has significantly shaped the sound of ‘Eddie Witz and The Most High’ by adding layers of depth and richness to our music, allowing us to explore new directions and push our creative boundaries.

While I enjoy the solitude and focus of working alone, where I can delve deeply into personal expression and fine-tune my ideas, I ultimately prefer to collaborate. The collective energy, shared passion, and diverse influences that come from working with others are invaluable. Collaboration not only broadens the scope of our music but also strengthens the bond within the band, making the creative process more fulfilling and enjoyable.
